DAY 03

11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
Luke 1:11-13
The angel of the Lord assured Zechariah that his prayer had been heard. Even though their reality was obvious (Elizabeth being barren and them both being possibly too old to have children anyhow), Zechariah and Elizabeth still desired to have children and, in faith, had been praying for years that God would give them children. God answers all prayers in three significant ways: "Yes." "No." and "Later." or "Not right now." God had a bigger plan than Zechariah or Elizabeth could imagine. And in his perfect plan, their prayer was never ignored but was a "later" answer. God planned for them to have a son at His ideal time. A son who would be later known as John the Baptist.

The angel reminds Zechariah and us that God hears our prayers. Every single one of them. Even if we don't get an immediate response, that doesn't mean God is ignoring us. In all their years of praying to God, growing old, and Elizabeth being barren, recall to day one and now see the weight of their faith. Continuing to walk in righteousness and blamelessly in all the commandments. God wants you to trust Him. He hears you. He knows your every desire and every need. Trust in Him for all these things. Even when some answers take time.
Prayer
Thank you, God, for hearing me. If I'm willing to trust you with my eternity, I trust you with everything else. I dedicate my life to following you even when it doesn't make sense and even when it is hard. Amen.
