DAY 04

14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”
Luke 1:14-17
The word "turn" is used twice in these verses. This turn describes a change in direction or, in many cases, "conversion." (See Acts 9:35; 11:21; 14:15). John the Baptist was the greatest of all the prophets. Jesus said so Himself. John was the voice in the wilderness that went before Jesus to prepare the people to welcome the Lord. The central theme of his ministry was, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near" (Matt. 3:2).

Are you prepared? The King is coming. Christmas is not just a warm and cozy holiday that makes us feel good inside. Christmas is the welcoming of our God to earth. God has sent all the people and has shown us all the signs for you and me to be ready for when He comes. This Christmas season, we can prepare. The first step is to turn. Repent and turn to Jesus, for the kingdom of Heaven is near. Jesus, who came to this earth over 2000 years ago, is coming back. Are you prepared?
Prayer 1
If You’ve never placed your trust in Jesus, why wait? What are you waiting for? If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, confess and turn from your sins and ask for forgiveness. In your own prayer, submit your life to Jesus and ask Him to be the Lord of your life.
Prayer 2
Jesus, I’m tired of the sin struggle in my life. I feel distant from You. My choices have not led me into the right places. I’ve listened to the whispers of my enemy instead of Your words in Scripture, and the result has been disastrous. I’m confessing my desperate need for You. I want to turn around and head another direction—back to You. But I need Your help.
